Summary

Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her. His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.

For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.

My rating: ✮✮✮✮/5

I found the first half of the book to be very slow and predictable, but I enjoyed the writing all the more. Even though the plot wasn’t really working for me in the beginning, I did absolutely love the characters. They were really diverse and interesting and I liked the friendship amongst the boys.

Going into this book I didn’t know a lot about it and I didn’t expect the story to be told in different point of views, but I was very happy about it because I always love that. I also wasn’t expecting the book to be set in our world (I don’t know why), but I liked the “magical” aspect a lot and it was really interesting.

At the beginning I was a bit afraid that it was gonna be one of these book where love would be the paramount and the rest was just background information, but I’m happy it’s not. The relationship between the characters wasn’t forced or rushed and I really liked that we had no set love interest at the end of the book (although I think I know what’s gonna happen, at least I hope so).

As I already said, the first half of the book was bit slow, however halfway through it picked up and I was really intrigued.

All in all I liked the book enough to continue on with the series because I heard that the other books would get better and better. I think this was definitely something new and I am excited to see how it goes on.

I hope you all enjoyed my review and I recommend you guys to pick it up if you haven’t. Have a nice day.
